PSA #bowtie! Do you properly dispose of your used batteries? Hard metals (lead, cadmium, nickel, mercury) inside the batteries contaminate ground water and make mother nature frown big time. While mercury has been removed/reduced from many batteries since the early 90s, wouldn't you rather be on the greener side of history by taking small steps for big change? Here's what you can do:

#1 Save 'em! Keep a Zip-Lock in a junk drawer and fill it up until it's full. Then take 'em to a location near you!
#2 Throw 'em in your re-usuable shopping bags. Many grocery stores have drop off bins for batteries. Two birds (batteries & bags) with one stone. If yours doesn't, follow #1.
#3 #Bowtie 'em! Start a blog where you create a #bowtie from found materials each day of the year. 1/365 days can bring awareness to battery recycling. Follow the post with a shot of bourbon. Then follow the shot by doing #1 (you can do it!).
#4 Earth911, a favorite site of mine, gives great info on battery recycling and many other Earth-conscious things.

Last night in New Canaan, CT. After a thrilling game of Say Anything and take out from Cherry Street East, we're snacking away & watching Family Guy. #Bowtie from post-Valentine's Day chocolates won in a trapshooting round by Casey's mom.
